Dorotha Margaret Ritz-Hanson

Margaret was born the third of four daughters to Mary and Harry Love on June 17, 1924, in Spurgeon, MO, a small community near Neosho, the county seat. The family moved to Spokane, WA. and later to Banning where she finished high school. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert S. Ritz, during World War II who predeceased her in 1966.

She leaves their two sons, Robert S. Ritz, Jr. of Goodyear, AZ and Stephen C. Ritz (and wife, Dawn) of Yorba Linda, CA. along with three grandchildren, Mrs. Stephanie Cates (and Greg) of Sacramento, CA; Bryan C. Ritz of Lake Elsinore, CA; and Mrs. Stacy McCafferty of Yorba Linda, CA, along with five great-granddaughters, Christine, Emily, Hayley, Kyley and Lindsey.

In 1974 Margaret married Robert L. Hanson, who predeceased her in 2000 and leaves a stepson, Robert W. Hanson and stepdaughter, Donna Julian (and Jerry) of Arroyo Grande along with two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren of the Hanson family. She leaves one sister, Alberta Wieman of Leicester, MA.

After retirement from the Deutsch Company in 1981 she enjoyed remodeling and decorating their home; gardening; reading; traveling; and writing poetry, once receiving the Editor's Choice Award from the International Library of Poetry. She has been an active member and officers of Soroptimist lnt'I and Banning Woman's Club; served on Edward Dean Museum Board; Banning Cemetery District; Laura May Stewart Foundation; and Riverside County West Area Planning Council; active in United Methodist Church and Habitat for Humanity of the San Gorgonio Pass. Her most dedicated love was for her family.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at The United Methodist Church of Banning, CA.
