Raymond Allen McKiernan

Ray McKiernan, 85, of Banning California, passed away, Friday, March 30, 2018 in Riverside, Ca. Ray was born in Chicago, Illinois to Joseph and Helen McKiernan. As a young child his family moved to Everette Washington where his father Joe worked in the shipyards during WW II. The family eventually moved to El Monte, California where Ray attended El Monte High school. In 1952 Ray enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the USS Prairie during the Korean War. After the Navy, Ray attended trade school and became a plumber, eventually landing a job with the Los Angeles County Mechanical Department. Ray was a member of the United Association of Journeyman Plumbers, local #78 for over 60 years. Ray loved baseball, fishing and having a cold beer with his family and friends. Always one with a quick wit and a natural talent for blarney, he kept the Irish tradition of story telling alive. Ray is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna McKiernan, his daughter Sandra Kikawa, his son Steve McKiernan, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Helen, and his brother Ed. A private family service will be held.
