Malcolm Frank Cochran
Born 1-10-1933 in Wichita, Kansas to Frank and Ellen Cochran
Died 6-11-2019 in Corona, CA
Graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Long Beach, CA in 1952
Went to work for McDonnel Douglas, then three months later was drafted into the Army where he
served in the Korean War until 1955 and remained in reserves until he was honorably discharged in
1961.
Achieved rank of Corporal and earned several service medals including:
Korean Service Medal
UN Service Medal
National Defense Service Medal
After separating from active duty Malcolm worked in the meat packing industry for over 30 years, then
returned to aviation working for Boeing where he met his wife Sonja.
Malcolm enjoyed fishing, square dancing, family poker night, clogging, metal
detecting, polka dancing, panning for gold, casino slots, travel,
and reading anything WWII related, but most especially, family and friends.
Malcolm and Sonja enjoyed traveling around the world together where they visited New England in the
Fall, U.S. Historical sites, Europe, the Middle East, Australia, New Zealand, and several cruises.
Malcolm loved the Lord. He read and studied God’s word which was the source of his strength and
inspiration and gave him hope and peace, especially in his later years
Preceded in death by his wife of 18 years, Sonja Cochran, Sister Marcella, Brother Jerry and is survived
by his beloved sister-in-law, Darlene Cochran
Also survived by four children and their spouses – Diana and Dennis Butt, Jeffrey and Linda Cochran,
Cynthia and Marco Proto, and Sharon Cochran
Six Grandchildren - Raylene, Bailey, Breanna, Kyle, Leilani, and C.J. and six great grandchildren.
Four Stepchildren and spouses – Debra and Charles Dyrdahl, Glen Holzclaw, Bruce and Claudia
Holtzclaw, and Michele and Richard Glasow; Nine Step Grandchildren, 10 Step Great Grandchildren, and
Two Step Great Great Grandchildren.
