Virginia Howard Higbee, age 91, was born on June 7, 1928, Virginia Francis Howard. She was the daughter of James Troy Howard and Maude Lola Howard. Virginia grew up and attended school in Oxnard, CA graduating from Oxnard High School and moving on to continue her education at UCLA. She graduated with a Bachelors in 1951 at the age of 23 and went on to Redlands University graduating in the 1970’s with her Masters.
Virginia always worked at different jobs to contribute to her education. She was also employed overseas in Italy, Germany & Japan as a civilian Dependents Teacher with the US Military. She had the loving help of her cousins, brother and friends to help care for her young son Robert who was born May 7, 1949.
Virginia was a schoolteacher her entire life. Giving back to her community was always her passion. Virginia worked and traveled throughout the world. She retired from teaching 3rd grade at Central Elementary School, Banning, CA. She was on the Bridge Club, Book Club and involved in Election work.
Virginia was loved by so many and will be missed by us all.
Virginia is survived by her son, Robert Curtis (wife, Jean) Higbee of Thousand Oaks, CA; grandchildren, Emily Christine Higbee of Arcata, CA, and Adrienne Maude Higbee of Seattle, WA; sister-in-law, Carol Howard of Manhattan Beach, CA; niece, Cathy Howard of Venice, CA and nephew, Martin Howard of San Pedro, CA. She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Christian Robert Higbee of Redondo Beach, CA; brother, Wayne Howard of Manhattan Beach, CA; niece, Leslie Howard of Manhattan Beach, CA.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 8:30 am, Thursday, July 18, 2019, Wiefels & Son Mortuary of Banning, CA with burial to follow at 10:00am, San Gorgonio Memorial Park, Banning, CA.
