Tammie Lynn Lyons, a lifelong resident of Banning, entered into rest on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. She passed at Cedar Siani Hospital surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Tammie was born on June 23, 1968 to proud parents Maurice and Elenita Lyons. She was the eldest of their four children. Her step mother was Barbara Lyons. Tammie's siblings were brothers; Ernest "Ben" Lyons, Maurice Lyons (Tiffany), William Lyons, Joshua Lyons (Dominique), Joe Lyons (Maria), sisters; Melissa Lyons, Onoalyse Lyons (John), and Isabella Lyons.
Tammie grew up on the Morongo Indian reservation where she was a member of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians. She was raised in a very large, close-knit family with many cousins. During her childhood, Tammie was a majorette for Melody's Stars, showcasing her impressive skills in multiple Banning Stage Coach Days Parades.
Tammie completed her high school education at Banning High School in 1986. During her time there, she was an active member of the school's cheerleading squad, The Banning Broncos, and earned her letterman's letter. Additionally she was a dedicated participant in the Indian Club and the Spirit Club, showcasing her involvement and commitment to various extracurricular activities.
Tammie had one child, her son, Tyler Raymond Grant (Marissa), whom she loved dearly. Tyler gave Tammie the greatest loves of her life, her grandchildren, Kriscinda Grant, Tyler Grant, Tamia Grant and Se'ish Grant. Tammie had a great love for her family and absolutely enjoyed being an Auntie to her nieces and nephews, Jolisa Lyons, Albert Lyons, Tristen Martin, Nikkie Soza, Ellie Soza, Kelly Lyons, Maurice "Baby Moe" Lyons, Meadow Lyons, Priscilla Lyons, Cheyenne Lyons, Joey Lyons, Hunter Lyons, River Lyons, Karma Norvell, John Norvell, Sven Norevell, Evelyn Norvell, Odin Lyons, Feather Lyons, Loki Lyons, Thor Lyons, Azara Lyons, Matrim Lyons, Elyas Lyons.
Tammie was blessed to still have elders in the family. Her great Aunts, Eunice Mathews and Frances Miguel. Her Uncles, Ronald Lyons, Donald Lyons, Charles Martin, Angelo Laiwa, and Nate Wilson. Aunts, Leatrice Briones, Gina Castello, Jeff Martin, Helen Lyons, and Anita Soza.
Tammie was employed as a bingo floor clerk at the Morongo Bingo Hall. Her true passion, however, lay in party planning and decoration. Tammie's ideas were innovative, and she possessed a remarkable creative vision that allowed her to excel in this field. Her parties were consistently well-received and always a great success.
Tammie was a passionate shopper with an exceptional sense of style. Shopping was one of her favorite hobbies, and she was considered a fashionista. She had a penchant for being well dressed and sparkly. Tammie also enjoyed listening to 80's music and attending concerts and festivals to see her favorite artists perform. Furthermore, she was a devoted fan of Nascar, with Jeff Gordon, driver of the #24 car, being her favorite. Attending Nascar races was one of her favorite leisure activities.
Tammie had a beautiful loving spirit. She had a way of lighting up the room with her presence. She was very outgoing and friendly. She was funny with a great sense of humor which made her so much fun to be around. She was generous and kind with a big heart. She had many friends and was well known within her community. She was the best daughter, sister, aunt and cousin in the whole wide world and her beautiful spirit will be greatly missed by many.
Tammie is preceded in death by her father, Maurice Lyons; brother Ernest "Ben" Lyons; sister, Melissa Lyons, Kelley Lyons, niece and step father Robert Martinez.
