Our mother, Shirley MacDowell passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 1st surrounded by her two sons. Shirley was a woman who lived a life of charity, friendship, and laughter.
As a 51 year resident of Palm Springs and one who worked at Ruby’s Dunes, Paul DiAmico’s and managed John Henry’s our mother developed and cultivated countless friendships over the years. She was a member of Los Compadres, and the Lion’s Club.
Community and giving were the cornerstones of her existence. She lived, loved, and laughed fiercely.
She loved her sons and grandchildren unconditionally. She lived life on her own terms and influenced those around her with her positive attitude and mischievousness.
We are honored to be her children and grandchildren and will miss her immensely but are at peace with the values, positivity, and wry sense of humor that she has instilled in us.
Godspeed
Shirley is survived by her children Gene and Paul Parente, and her grandchildren: Paloma, Aiden, Rocco, Maddy, and Ava.
A celebration of her life will be held on June 11th at Los Compadres in Palm Springs, Ca.
