Saturnino "Sato" Arnold Torres
Saturnino "Sato" Arnold Torres, 82, of Banning, California, passed away on March 22, 2026. A proud member of the Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians, Sato was deeply devoted to his family, cherishing time spent with loved ones and taking great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports.
As a young man, Sato was drafted into the United States Army, where he served as a Military Police Sergeant in Germany. During his time abroad, he faithfully carried out his duties while also embracing opportunities for adventure. He often sent postcards home to his mother, sharing stories and memories from his experiences overseas.
Sato dedicated many years of his life working as a heavy equipment operator for Whitewater Rock & Supply Co. Known for his strong work ethic, he "retired" three times before finally making it official.
In retirement, Sato found joy in becoming a players club member at local casinos, which he fondly treated as his "second job." His visits often resulted in small winnings and gifts that he brought home to share with his family, creating cherished memories-especially during lively family bingo nights.
Sato is survived by his loving daughters: Denisa (Roxanne) Morales, Arnette (Ollie) Lomas, and Priscilla (Tony) Torres-Leyva; his grandchildren: Anna Rice, David Morales, James Lugo, Mariya Lugo, Olliana Lomas, Ethan Lomas, Anthony Leyva, Xavier Leyva, and Ciara Leyva; and his great-grandchildren: Dontá Harris and Mogli Chandler.
He is also survived by his siblings: Spencer Lyons, Rose Tortes, Stan (Lynette) Torres, Theresa Torres, Raymond (Brenda) Torres, and Willis (Carol) Torres, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Sato will be remembered for his hardworking spirit, his love for family, and the joy he brought to those around him.
