Ramona Lara

Ramona Lara was born November 18, 1937 and was called Home on March 2, 2025 at 87 years old in Chandler, Arizona. She passed peacefully with loved ones by her bedside.
She was born in Santa Elena, Texas to Nellie Luna and Tomas Leyva.

While living in Banning, California she worked at Twin Pines Boys Home, Banning Unified School District and then Casino Morongo where she worked until retirement in 2004.
She was also very dedicated to her Catholic beliefs and always said the Rosary and prayed for family and friends. She has left us broken hearted, but she lived a wonderful life.

Ramona is survived by her children Edward Leyva Sr (Sheila), David Elizondo Sr, Isabel Leyva, and Evangelina Elizondo Andrade, her sister Juanita Castillo Leyva, 28 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren.
She was a very compassionate and loving mother, grandmother and mother-in-law whom will be missed very, very much.

Ramona is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years Oswaldo Elizondo Sr, children Olga Byars, Otilia Lara, Leroy Lara, and Oswaldo "Ozzie" Elizondo Jr, brothers Jesus Galindo Sr, Oscar Castillo Leyva, and Domingo Castillo Leyva, parents Nellie Luna and Tomas Leyva, sisters Manuela Calderon, and Librada Castillo Leyva.

Services in Ramona's honor will take place:

at Wiefels & Son Memorial Chapel, 50 E Nicolet St, Banning, Ca 92220

Friday, March 14, 2025
Rosary in Spanish beginning at 9:30 am with Funeral Mass at 10:00am
at Blessed Saint Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Church, 157 W Nicolet St, Banning, Ca 92220
Burial immediately following Mass at San Gorgonio Memorial Park in Banning.
