Martha J. Hernandez Garcia of Banning, CA, passed away peacefully at home on March 22, 2025, surrounded by her daughter, Jeania, and Grandson, Ruben, who had been her caretakers in the last months of her life. Martha was born May 22, 1951, to parents Consuelo and Bernardo Hernandez of Cherry Valley.
Martha is survived by her children Jeania, Diana, Joey, and Christina, as well as her grandchildren Ruben, Hyci, Angelina, Emily, Brianna, Ari, Steve, Joey, Nidia, Alexis, Angelo, Alexis, Isaac, Kenny, and five great-grandchildren. She had a lifelong friendship with her ex-husband Pio (Joe) and his partner, Barbara. Martha also leaves behind her siblings Gloria, Linda, Connie, Tony, Licha, and Sandra.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bernie, her sister Monica, partners in crime Helen and Jo, and her grandsons Billy and Andrew Rocha.
Martha worked many jobs throughout her life but her favorite and most cherished was working with the kids as a teacher's aide for Banning Unified. She had great memories of the teachers and kids she worked with and would always talk fondly of them. Martha loved her animals, from horses she cared for later in life to "grandma's kitties" and all of her favorite dogs she had over the years, especially her BabyGirl and her special little friend Sid, who was her faithful companion and cuddle buddy these last few months.
Martha was a big fan of good music, always ready to dance and have a good time or simply take a cruise and enjoy the moment. She loved going to the casinos, sometimes a little too much! Back in the day, if you didn't know where she was you could usually find her at Morongo or any number of casinos between Banning and the Salton Sea, sometimes all in the same day. She was a feisty spirit until her dying day, and we will always remember that about her. Martha will be missed by all who loved her.
