Margie Smith was born to the late Goree Smith Sr., and Maxine Smith on February 18, 1942, in Garrison, Texas. She accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mount Moriah Baptist Church where she was baptized.
Margie attended school in garrison, Texas as a child. The smith Family relocated to Palm Springs, California in 1956 and later moved to Banning, California where she united with First Missionary Babtist Church. Margie graduated from Banning High School in 1960. She faithfully served as committed volunteer for the Banning High School Booster Club for many years, giving her time and heart to support the students. Her dedication made a lasting impact, and her lovingly became known throughout the community as "Aunt Margie"

Margie leaves to cherish her memory three brothers; Waren Smith Sr. (Carline), Willie Smith Sr. (Louise), and Goree Smith Jr. two sisters; Lois Smith and Gwendolyn Ballard, 14 nieces and nephews, 30 great-nieces and great-nephews, seven great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Margie was proceeded in death by her parents, Goree Smith Sr. and Maxine Smith, as well as her great-niece Clarencia Clemons.
