Lupe Hernandez Ortega of Banning, CA passed away with family by her side on June 20, 2020. Lupe was born on Aug. 5, 1935 in Banning, CA.
Lupe attended the Banning Unified School District until the 10th grade. She later went worked in several occupations including a t-shirt factory, caretaker, harvesting peaches, and raising her siblings.
Lupe was affiliated with St. Jude Catholic Church, Canaan Assembly of God Church & Faith Builders Church. She also has a special recognition as Mera Mera the God Mother Queen of the Sapo.
Lupe is survived by her sons, Frank “Pancho” DeHaro & Stevie Fuentez; daughters, Eva Warren & Diana Ortega; daughters-in-law, Sheryl DeHaro & Carolyn Fuentez; sons-in-law, Jeff Warren & Estevan Anzaldua; godson, Michael Evans all of Banning, CA; 18 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie Ortega & Francisca Ortega, sisters, Mary “Chencha” Lopez & Delores Menor; brothers, Richard Ortega, Tony Ortega, John Ortega, Jesse Ortega; son, Louie Fuentez & grandson, Arthur Dagnino, Jr. all of Banning, CA.
Viewing will be held on Wed, July 1, 2020 from 2pm-4pm at Faith Builders Church, Banning, CA. Mass to be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020, 10:00 am, at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, Banning, CA. Social distancing and facial masks are to be worn with limited seating at the Mass. Burial immediately following Mass at San Gorgonio Memorial Park, Banning, CA.
