Lucille Duran Rice
September 10, 1946 - January 30, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Lucille Duran Rice, who was called home on January 30, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on September 10, 1946, in San Bernardino, California, Lucille was a tribal member of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and spent most of her life on the Morongo Indian Reservation.
Lucille was the beloved daughter of the late Mike Garcia Duran and Doreen Marie (Velarde) Bentley. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lorena Myrtle (Waite) Velarde; her husband, Allan Rice; her daughter, Brenda Navarro; her son, Joe Navarro; twin infants, John and Marie Aguilar; and her brothers, Michael Dennis Duran and Joe "Petie" Bentley.
Lucille leaves behind a large and loving family, including her spouse, Lucious Harris III; her daughters, Lorraine Rasha and Michelle Granados; her sister, Yvonne (Duran) Finley; as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply. She also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and lifelong friends who will forever remember her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
A memorial service to honor Lucille's life will be held at 10:00 AM on March 1, 2025, at Wiefels & Son Mortuary in Banning, California. A private burial of her remains will take place at the Morongo Moravian Cemetery on the Morongo Indian Reservation at a date to be determined by the family.
