Larry Thorpe Obituary

Larry Eugene Thorpe, known affectionately as Larry to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2024, in Cherry Valley, California. Born on May 26, 1950, in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Larry's life was marked by service, creativity, and a profound generosity of spirit. He was a beloved brother, friend, and community member who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him.

Larry's early years in New Castle laid a foundation of resilience and courage which he carried with him when he joined the United States Marine Corps. His bravery was recognized with a Purple Heart after he valiantly served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Larry continued his life of service as a dedicated employee of the US Postal Service, where he worked until his retirement.

In his personal life, Larry's passion for animals was evident to all who visited his home, which was often a haven for local wildlife and any stray that wandered onto his property. Music and songwriting were also dear to Larry; his creative soul found expression in melodies and lyrics that spoke of his experiences and dreams.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Larry would describe him as generous, always the first to offer help without expecting anything in return. But above all, Larry was passionate about his animals.
Larry is survived by his brother, Gerald Thorpe. He was pre deceased by his parents Bernard and Dorothy Thorpe.

As we say goodbye to Larry, we celebrate a life lived with honor, creativity, and a boundless capacity to give. He will be remembered not just for the many roles he played - as a Marine, a postal worker, a musician, and a friend - but for the extraordinary human being that he was. Rest in peace, Larry; your story lives on in the countless lives you've touched.
