Katharina Koniger Martinez, born on January 5, 1933, in Huglfing, Germany, passed away peacefully in Banning, California on October 27, 2023. She was a loving and thoughtful woman who touched the hearts of many with her kindness and generous spirit.
Katharina was the beloved wife of Gilbert Ortega Martinez for 65 years. She was the cherished daughter of the late Fritz and Maria Goldhofer Koniger and was predeceased by her brothers Fritz Koniger II, Tony Koniger, and Johann Koniger. She is survived by her brother Max Koniger, sister Hermione Koniger, sister-in-law Erika Koniger, nephew Christian Koniger, great-niece Sina Koniger, and her aunt Klara Reich. Katharina was a treasured member of the Ortega, Martinez, Quiroz, Diaz, and Santa Cruz families.
In her professional life, Katharina was a Deli Manager at Hadley's Fruit Orchards for 25 years, where she worked alongside her good friend Sue Black. Katharina's dedication extended beyond her professional life as she was also an active member of Saint Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Church.
Katharina was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend and will be remembered for her warmth and care. Her family and friends will miss her, but her memory will live on in their hearts. Her legacy of love, thoughtfulness, and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
Services will be held in Katharina's honor Friday, December 1st, 2023. The rosary will begin at 10:30 am at Saint Kateri Tekawitha Church in Banning, California. The funeral mass will follow at 11:00am, then a graveside burial will take place around 12:15pm at San Gorgonio Memorial Park in Banning, California. The family will be having a reception after the services from 1-3:00 pm at Saint Kateri Tekawitha Parish Hall in Beaumont, California.
