Joseph Gonzales Obituary

Joseph Cisneros Gonzales, a cherished patriarch, veteran, and pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at his home in Banning, California. Born on March 6, 1929, in Niles, California, to the late Joseph and Claudia Gonzales, Joseph's life was a testament to his enduring strength and commitment to his loved ones.

Joseph bravely served his country as a Marine, a period of his life that imbued him with a sense of duty and honor that he carried into all his endeavors. After his military service, he built a fulfilling career with General Motors and later contributed his talents to the Banning and Yucaipa Unified School Districts. His work ethic and dedication left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the many lives he touched through his professional journey.

A devout Catholic, Joseph was a devoted member of St Kateri Catholic Church. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding him through times of joy and sorrow with grace and humility. His love for the Lord was evident in his every action, and he instilled this deep spiritual commitment in his family.

Joseph's legacy is lovingly carried on by his children, Jovannah and her husband Ray Meek of Joplin, Missouri; Joseph Anthony Gonzales; Roxine and her husband Fritz Yoder of Ohio; Donald Gonzales of Banning, California; and Michael and his wife Theresa Gonzales, also of Banning. He was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy and pride.

His brother, Alvin Gonzales, will fondly remember Joseph for his wisdom, humor, and the unbreakable bond of brotherhood they shared. Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Claudia Gonzales, beloved wife, Andrea Gonzales, who was his partner in life and love for 71 cherished years. Grandson Robert Hylkema and granddaughter Deana Lovings.
Their reunion in eternal rest is a comforting thought to all who mourn Joseph's passing.

Joseph's life was marked by his love for his family, his unwavering faith, and his commitment to serving others. His interests and hobbies were diverse, but it was his role as a family man that he held most dear. His guidance and unconditional love shaped the lives of his children and grandchildren, leaving a legacy of kindness, integrity, and perseverance.

The family invites friends and loved ones to pay their respects during visitation on December 19, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Wiefels & Son Memorial Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California, where Joseph will be laid to rest with full military honors.

Joseph Cisneros Gonzales lived a life rich in love, faith, and service. As we celebrate his journey on earth and his entry into heavenly peace, we remember a man who was a beacon of light and strength to all who knew him.
