Joan Marie "Linton" Newbold
August 1, 1936 - December 31, 2025
Joan Marie "Linton" Newbold, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and
great-great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2025, in Yucaipa, California,
at the age of 89.
Born on August 1, 1936, in Banning, California to parents Grace Olive St. Marie Linton and
Theodore Robert Linton "Chookie". Joan spent her early years in her hometown, where she later
married her high school sweetheart, Wilbur "Fred" Newbold. Together, they raised their three
daughters and built a life grounded in family, dedication, and love. In 2002, Joan relocated to
Yucaipa, California, where she continued to enjoy a life surrounded by family, creating
cherished memories that will endure for generations.
Joan dedicated nearly twenty years of service to Hadley's, where she was known for her
creativity and craftsmanship in designing gift packs-many of which remain in use today.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Wilbur "Fred" Newbold; her daughter,
Jennifer Stone; her parents, Grace and Theodore Linton; and her brothers, John Hough, Clinton
Orlin Hough, and Roger "Tom" Linton.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Nancy Kellogg and Melanie Newbold; her grandchildren,
Holly (Paul) Cox, Christopher Newbold, Rachel (Teresa) Lakin, Joseph Newbold, Stacey Stone,
and Nicholas Stone; her great-grandchildren, Valerie Newbold, Ethan Valencia, Natalie
Newbold, Michael Newbold, Dylan Valencia, Ryker Newbold, Holden Newbold, and Boston
Newbold; and her great-great-granddaughter, Tallulah Newbold.
Joan's legacy lives on through the love, memories, and values she instilled in her family. She
will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
