Janelle Allen Singleton

Janelle Allen Singleton, a loving and devoted mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2023, in Banning, California. Born on December 16, 1933, in Jefferson, Texas, Janelle lived a life defined by her unwavering faith, dedication to her family, and passion for nursing.

Janelle is survived by her daughter, Sheila Singleton-Owen, and son-in-law, Walter Owen; her sister, Mary Jane Brooking, brother, Jim Allen; and her niece, Betty Nell Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Jack Singleton.

After completing her education as a Registered Nurse and earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, Janelle began her career in Dallas, Texas. In 1965, she and Jack moved to Banning, California, where she continued her work as a nurse in the Maternity and Delivery department of San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital. Over the years, Janelle became well-known and respected for her exceptional skill and dedication to her patients and colleagues.

Together with her husband Jack, Janelle founded the Community Blood Bank Center in the Pass region. This vital resource provided blood for transfusions at local small hospitals, ensuring that those in need received lifesaving care. Janelle's expertise in the field of nursing led her to become an apheresis specialist, and she was one of the first practitioners to recognize the link between pheresis treatments and successful Guillain-Barre recovery. After 50 years of service in the nursing profession, Janelle retired, leaving behind a legacy of care, compassion, and innovation.

Outside of her professional life, Janelle was a talented pianist who played for her church, bringing joy and inspiration to all who heard her music. Her love of travel took her to all 50 states and four continents, allowing her to experience the beauty and diversity of the world firsthand. Janelle's adventurous spirit and love for learning were evident in her many journeys, and she leaves behind a wealth of treasured memories for her family and friends.

In addition to her accomplishments, Janelle was known for her kindness and generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer a supportive word. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

As we celebrate Janelle's life and say our final farewells, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Janelle's legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire and guide us as we remember her with gratitude and admiration.
