Irma Nohemi Rivera, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 57 in Banning, California. Born on December 29, 1968, in Torrance, California, Irma's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her dedication to her family, her faith, and her community.
Irma graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1987. She furthered her education at Phillips College in Riverside, earning a certificate that would lead her to a fulfilling career. For 29 years, Irma served as an Eligibility Supervisor for CalWorks Childcare, where her compassion and commitment to helping others shone brightly.
A devout Christian, Irma was an active member of St. Kateri Catholic Church in Banning. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and inspiring those around her. Irma's love for the Lord was evident in her every deed and word, and she lived her life as a true example of Christian kindness and generosity.
Irma's interests were a reflection of her joyous and loving personality. She cherished going to the movies, RV camping, and listening to music. Her greatest pleasure, however, was spending time with her beloved family and her dogs, who were a constant source of happiness and comfort to her.
Irma's family was the heart of her world. She is survived by her devoted husband, Leo Rivera, and her children: Monica Rivera, Mayra Tanori, David Magana, and Natalie Magana. Irma's legacy continues through her granddaughter, Ava Acosta, who brought immense joy to her life. Irma was a cherished daughter to her mother, Margarita Yolanda Huerta, and was a loving sister to Luis Fonseca (Magdalena), Catalina Chacon (Javier Mondagon), Fernando Flores, and Karina Briseno (Alex). Her family circle also includes other dear sisters Dolores Perez (Mike), Doreen Kenedy, and Rosemary Egkan (Patrick). Irma was predeceased by her father, Ezekiel Huerta, whose memory she held close to her heart.
As we bid farewell to Irma Nohemi Rivera, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by unwavering faith, kindness, and boundless love. Her generous spirit will be deeply missed but will continue to guide her loved ones and her cherished memory will forever be a blessing to everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Viewing will take place Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 4:00-8:00pm with Rosary beginning 7:00pm at Wiefels & Son Mortuary, 50 E Nicolet St, Banning, Ca 92220.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, February 13, 2026 beginning 10:00am at St. Kateri Catholic Church, 157 W Nicolet St, Banning, Ca 92220.
Burial will be immediately following the Mass at San Gorgonio Memorial Park, 2201 N San Gorgonio Ave, Banning, Ca 92220.
