Doris "Fern" Koehnemann, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 96 in Beaumont, California. Born on December 1, 1929, in Loma Linda, California, Fern lived a life characterized by kindness, devotion to her family, and unwavering faith in God.
Fern spent her formative years in Banning and Cathedral City, where she graduated from Palm Springs High School. After completing her education, Fern returned to Banning, the place she held dear, to raise her beloved family.
For 25 years, Fern served diligently as a Dental Office Manager, a role in which she touched the lives of many with her warmth and gentle manner. Her dedication to her work was second only to her commitment to her family and her faith.
Fern's life was a testament to the love and devotion she had for her family. She is survived by her son, Brent W. Francis, and daughter-in-law, Maureen Francis. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Heather Bledsoe (Ron Martinez), Brent Francis (Lacy), Ashlie Stratman (Mariann), and Andrew Francis (Tesha), as well as her nine great-grandchildren, who brought immense love and pride to her life. Great joy was always found in the moments shared with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fern was predeceased by her husband, James Francis, her cherished son, Mark T. Francis, and her second husband, Walt Koehnemann.
A devout Christian, Fern's deep faith in God shaped every aspect of her life. Her belief was her compass, guiding her through life's challenges and joys. Fern was a member of the First United Methodist Church, along with the church's Women's Worship Group. She was also a member of the church choir and Cherry Valley Pass Chorale Group.
As we bid farewell to Doris "Fern" Koehnemann, we celebrate a life that was rich in love, strength, and anchored by faith. Her memory will continue to be a blessing to all who were touched by her loving spirit. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were graced by her presence.
