Diego Babauta Perez was born the 26th of May in 1936 in Agat, Guam, where he was raised and later married his wife, Teresita. He passed away January 6, 2021 in Highland, CA. He lived in Oak Harbor, Washington, Fallon, Nevada, and NAS Agana US Naval Base in Guam. Diego was a U.S. Navy soldier and an ADR2, or Aviation Mechanic Machinist’s Mate from 1995 to 1975. He also volunteered as a Salvation Army member. Diego graduated with a High-school diploma and acquired an associate degree while attending college classes. Over the years, Diego worked as a Shell Gas Station Mechanic from 1975 to 1978, he worked for the County of Riverside from 1978-1998, and the Riverside Water District from 1998-2001. He followed Roman Catholic beliefs and attended the St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church.
Diego is reunited with his mother and father, Maria and Joaquin, in Heaven. He will be missed by his lovely wife, Teresita of Riverside, CA; his daughter, Yvonne Cepeda of Moreno Valley, CA; his daughter, Geraldine Pangelinan of Oceanside, CA; his sons, Dexter of Perris, CA and Walter of Riverside, CA; his daughter, Emmeline Gutierrez of Moreno Valley, CA. He will be remembered by his twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, as well as his two great-great grandchildren. His family described Diego as a man of few words yet, when he spoke, everyone always listened. Diego was a survivor, a true U.S. patriot, and great father, and a great grandfather.
There will be open visitation at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church on January 26, 2021 from 9:30-10:30AM. Only a small group will be allowed to visit at a time due to COVID-19. A service will take place after visitation hours on January 26, 2021 from 10:30-11:30AM.
