Constance Pehau Obituary

Constance Gay Pehau, affectionately known as Connie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 4, 2024, in Hemet, California. Born on a crisp winter day February 22, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas, Connie's life journey was marked by an unwavering dedication to her loved ones and a generous spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Connie's formative years in Kansas were the foundation of a life characterized by hard work and perseverance. Her journey led her to San Jacinto College, where she furthered her education by taking business classes at night. This commitment to personal growth was a testament to her belief in the importance of lifelong learning and self-improvement.
Professionally, Connie's career was as diverse as it was impactful. Her caring nature and organizational skills were a perfect fit for her roles at Beltone Hearing Aids in Banning and Mountain View Cemetery in Beaumont. Her dedication to community service shone brightly during her time as Secretary to the Banning City Hall Manager and as a Secretary/receptionist for the Banning Fire Department. Connie's career was marked by a deep sense of duty and an eagerness to contribute to the well-being of her community until her retirement.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Connie's heart was truly at home. She was a devoted mother to her daughters Janice, Marlene, Susan, and Jeanene. Her love extended to her grandchildren Joy, Kristeen, Heather, Michael, Steven, Ronald, Angela, Kenneth, William, and Cathy, as well as to her 21 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Each held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Connie's hands were rarely still, for her passion for knitting was as much a part of her as her gentle smile. She crafted countless hats for her family and for cancer patients at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital, selflessly giving comfort and warmth to those in need. Each baby and child in the family was wrapped in love with the sweaters she knitted, tangible expressions of her endless affection. Her interests were as warm and comforting as the rainstorms she adored. Music and reading were sources of joy and solace, enriching her life and the lives of those around her. Connie's presence was a soothing melody, a gentle narrative in the story of her family's life.
Connie's legacy is one of kindness, selflessness, and gentleness. She navigated life's challenges with grace, always placing the needs of others above her own. Her enduring kindness was the golden thread woven through the tapestry of her life, a trait that endeared her to all.
It is with both a profound sense of loss and a celebration of her life that Connie's family and friends bid her farewell. Her memory will be cherished, her lessons remembered, and her love felt always. Constance Gay Pehau's story is one of a life well-lived, a life of giving, and a life that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
