Carlos Angel Salazar, born July 16, 1950, passed away Friday, July 5, 2024 in Loma Linda.
Carlos was born in Indio and lived in Banning all his life. He graduated from Banning High School and became a cement mason.
Carlos was also a Navy and Vietnam War veteran, receiving a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Action Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Sea Service Ribbon.
Carlos gave his life to the Lord and loved reading his Bible as a believer. He loved the Old Testament especially and loved teaching his daughter Angel about it. He especially loved the worship song "I could only imagine" by Mercy Me.
He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and Legacy Church.
He is survived by his sons Roman C. Salazar and Erick G. Salazar; daughters Angel R. Rodriguez and Lori A. Salazar; son-in-law Allan Rodriguez Sr.; daughter-in-law Mary Salazar; brothers Danny Salazar, Michael Montez and John Montez; sisters Teresa Montez Cruz, Ernestina Montez Chavarria and Diane Lavoie; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother Dorlores P. Montez, father John Montez Jr. and grandson Jacob Salazar.
A visitation for Carlos will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, July 15, at Wiefels and Sons Memorial Chapel, 50 E. Nicolet St., Banning, followed by rosary at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 157 W. Nicolet St., Banning, followed by burial at 11:30 a.m. at San Gorgonio Memorial Park, 2201 N. San Gorgonio Ave., Banning.
