Dear great-grandmother,

I thank you for the advice and love that you have given to myself and my family. You have always looked out for those of need whether it be blood or water. I will remember the times of coke a cola and old westerns. We will miss you and carry on your wisdom. May God watch over you.

Love, your great-grandson

You were and is still a beautiful memory of all my grandparents. you will always be a beautiful reminder of all of our ancestors. I miss you and will always think of you when I talk to Karen! “I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought, and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared their love.”

We will all love you forever and forevermore ❤️

Grandma Betty,
I was raised without grandparents from a young age. I was lucky to find the love of my life “Andrea”. Since day one you welcomed me to your heart with open arms. You showed me the love of a grandma to a grandson every single day. I never did anything wrong in your eyes; you always believed in me, gave me advice and supported my decisions good or bad, you were always on my sideline. You always loved me unconditionally and I will be eternally graceful.

I thought of you with love yesterday, today and I will tomorrow. All I have now are memories with you, I have a picture of your smile, bright eyes and soft warm hand on my face graved in my heart.

The lord has you in his keeping, I will have you in my heart forever. Thank you for everything, I miss you and love you; your grandson Cristobal Barraza.

Karen, when I think about your mom, I think back to those San Marcos days when as a young man I would go there and preach each month for a few years. Your mom always had a smile on her face and was an extreme source of comfort for me as I was learning how to get into the pulpit. I certainly remember her in El Centro but not as vividly. Her love for Christ showed through her smile, I will never forget. What a Christian example! Now, she is in a better place, a place we all are striving to attain. As Christians we understand. Karen, you are in my thoughts and prayers, may God bless you and your whole family.

My Grandma Mariner was one of the most amazing person that you could ever meet, she was a kind, loving, and fun grandparent. I was always excited to go to San Diego or Green Valley, Arizona and visit. We used to enjoy going shopping, going out to eat, and getting coffee at Starbucks. We also enjoyed having long talks on the phone. I was truly blessed to have her as my grandma. I love you and miss you Grandma and I will always cherish your memory and remember the good times we had

I hope all who knew her are comforted by remembering what a giving soul she truly was. She didn't merely talk of kindness but frequently demonstrated it by giving something to a hungry homeless person. Her capacity for love and forgiveness seemed natural and limitless. She was unselfish and always expressed her concern for the feelings and welfare of others rather than bemoaning her own difficulties. As a husband to her youngest daughter I am forever indebted to her for her patience and tolerance of my own shortcomings. Most of all I am proud to call her "Mom".-

Its with great sadness my beautiful cousin, Betty has moved on to the Promise Land. My sincere condolences to Karen, her sister, brother and their families.
We didn't get to see each other often, but when we did we made it count. The last time was In Florida, 2006, when the first cousins from the Jones Family ventured up to North Carolina checking on our ancestors. What fun we had on that trip! RIP

Well just a month or so ago at Church I was coming up to preach and I stopped and gave Betty a hug. And she strongly pull me down to her and gave me a kiss on the cheek. After that I was standing before the congregation, I saw Joel and Debi Leon snickering at me. And I knew at that moment that Betty had left lipstick on my cheek. Betty had the most sheepish smile and then I let her have it for assaulting me that way….. But really, I’m going to miss her
