Benny Martinez Bridgmon Sr

Benny Bridgmon Sr. passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2026, in Palm Springs, CA. A bright light in the lives of many, Benny was born on April 20th, 1943, in Fresno, CA, and throughout his 82 years, he cultivated a legacy of selflessness, love, and kindness that will be fondly remembered by all.

Benny's early life was marked by a strong sense of duty, which he demonstrated through his service in the United States Navy. His time in the Navy not only shaped his character but also instilled in him a profound sense of responsibility and community, well noted in cities like Banning, CA.

Those who knew Benny understood his passion for life's games of chance. His eyes would light up with excitement at the casino, the racetrack, or when he had the perfect lotto ticket in hand. These interests brought him great joy and were a testament to his optimistic spirit, always hopeful for the fortune of the next generation of young Black men.

Benny's love for life was well displayed at the counters of the renowned Sportsman liquor where he shared smiles, laughs, and words of wisdom. Whenever a parent said no, Benny would say yes, and that's how he became Uncle Ben, putting himself in debt just so hundreds of kids wouldn't walk out empty-handed. Benny's heart was so overflowing with love that it poured out to any cup that needed it.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Cannady; his father, Ben Bridgmon.
He leaves behind a sister, Ruth McFadden; children, Eric & Brandi Bridgmon, Sonya & Gerard Anderson, Benny Bridgmon Jr. & Elizabeth Sanchez, Marquis & Shanel Bridgmon, Shana Brooks, Darise Brooks, plus a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
