Barbara Vaughan Rehfeld Her Legacy began August 18, 1933 and ended on May 2, 2025
It is with a heavy heart to announce that on May 2, 2025, after 91 years of living a faith filled full life, Barbara Vaughan- Rehfeld has now joined her heavenly family above. She passed away peacefully with loved ones, in her beautiful home that her beloved husband, Jerome B. Vaughan built for her and their family of four children over sixty years earlier. Unfortunately, her husband was taken too early from their beautiful family at the age of 42, on September 2, 1973. Barbara is survived by her three remaining children, Greg Vaughan (Kim), Mary Vaughan Creech, and Bart Vaughan (Rhonda). She has several loved grand children, great and even great-great grand children along with many nieces and nephews, and in-laws, who will miss her love and beautiful smile tremendously. She will be missed by all the love, kindness, care, wisdom and friendship she shared with everyone who knew her.
Sadly, her beloved son, Paul Vaughan (Donna) passed away a few weeks before her passing, and her deeply loved grand daughter, Elizabeth Browning (Paul's daughter) passed two days before her Grandmother. So much loss and pain in a short period of time has not made the passing of their beloved mother easy. Her parents Yhelmer and Hermine Hanson, her sister Claire, her brother Max and Auntie Anne also predeceased her along with her husbands, in-laws, nieces and nephews and many other friends and family members.
While raising four kids, she worked at Precious Blood School and Church so her children could attend the same private school along with being a full time wife and mother.
After the passing of Jerome (Jerry) Vaughan, Barbara went back to school, studied hard and became a medical assistant and worked at Dr. Fischbach's Family Practice. Later she went on to serve in the Peace Corps stationed in Micronesia. Out of the Peace Corps she moved to Northern California, went back to school and became a Registered Nurse and served the communities there.
A few years later Barbara married a long time friend, Kurt Rehfeld and started a new life in Rescue, (Placerville) California. Ready for another change they decided to move back to Barbara's original home in Banning CA. There they finished out their lives together with the help of Barbara's son Bart. Kurt died in 2000, and Barbara continued her life as a RN for the Beaumont School District until she retired in her 70's.
Barbara lived a very full life. She enjoyed tennis, bicycling, scuba diving, gardening, cooking, traveling and all her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the opportunity to call her Mom, Grandmother, Auntie, Nurse and Friend. She truly was a servant to the people, and her engaging inner beauty, kindness, compassion and inviting smile will be missed by all those who knew and loved her. God truly blessed us with time she was here.
She was laid to rest at San Gorgonio Memorial Park with her husband Jerome Vaughan on May 8,2025
