Barbara Jeanne (Hansen) Gwinup

Barbara Jeanne Gwinup was born Barbara Jeanne Hansen on 3/10/1937 in Tracy, California to Jeanne and Arnold Hansen.

Barbara grew up in Gardena, California with her mother Jeanne and her step-father Ira Hair. She had a half-sister Linda and a half-brother Gary.

She married Leroy Gwinup on October 20, 1956. Barbara and Leroy adopted two sons, Eric and Kevin. After raising her sons Barbara went back to college and got her teaching credentials from Cal State Fullerton. She taught kindergarten in Los Angeles City School District for over 20 years. When she retired, she and Leroy moved to Sun Lakes in Banning, Ca. Unfortunately, in 2003 after 56 years of marriage Leroy passed away. Barbara stayed on enjoying her retirement with her many friends from the Sun Lakes Community and her church family at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Barbara discovered a few years ago that she had another half-brother. David Weaver came in to her life and they were able to get to know each other. It was a joyful discovery for both of them.

Barbara was predeceased by both her parents, her step-father, her brother Gary, and her two sons. She is survived by her sister Linda, her brother David, and grandchildren Jessica, Maddie & Zack.

Barbara spent her final years living at Silver Lining Care Home in Anaheim, Ca. She was lovingly care for and that is where she passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025.
