Wilma Marie Bender, 80, passed away on Sept. 23, 2018 at her home in Banning.
Wilma was born on Nov. 14, 1937 in Mower County in Austin, Minn. She married the late Lee Bender, Sr. in Las Vegas 14 years ago. She lived in Banning for nine years and also resided in Riverside for 10 years; Fullerton for a year; Long Beach for three years; Brea for five years; Olympia, Wash for two years; and Anaheim for four years.
She was a high school graduate who worked as a beautician as well as at Beckman Instrument Expedite as a supply manager.
She was the best mom, sister and grandmother ever. She loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her mother Bernice Koontz; husband Lee Bender, Sr.; brother Gene Reed; father Kenneth Reed; and grandson Kyle Wilkins.
She is survived by her sisters Judy (George) Wood of Chino Hills and Betty (Bud) Jackson of Montgomery, Texas; brothers Wayne (Bev) Reed of Stewartville, Minn. And Billy (Carol) Koontz of Elgin, Ill.; and sons Robert Garvin and Helene Barrette of Schwenksville, Penn., Shawn Sr. (Lucille) Garvin of Lake Arrowhead, Dane (Cindy) Garvin of Springtown, Texas and Lee Jr. (Alicia) Bender of Pleasant Grove, Utah; eight grandchildren Holly, Shawn Jr. Patric, Melissa, Gabrielle, Nyle and Dayree; 10 great-grandchildren Kaitelynn and Taelyr Beely; Joseph, Jacob and Jaxon Garvin; Tyler, Kyle and Sylena; and Alexie and Ayden; and a great-great-grandchild Damian Whitaker; and extended family member Solomon Wilkes.
Service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society and veterans organizations.
