Rebecca Jean Szydlowski

Rebecca Jean Szydlowski passed away in Banning, CA on December 4, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born Rebecca Jean Backstrom to her parents Richard and Emma Marie Backstrom on October 18, 1957 in Seattle, WA. Rebecca grew up in Bothell, WA. She played the flute in her school marching band and graduated from Bothell High School in 1975.

Rebecca loved the Lord and through the course of her life served in ministry at Open Door Baptist Church, Lynnwood, WA, Forest Hills Baptist Church, Decatur, GA, First Baptist Church of Lake Orion, Lake Orion, MI and Houghton Lake Baptist Church, Houghton Lake, MI.

Rebecca was dedicated to sharing Christ’s love with her community and was a caring and loving Pastor’s wife for 39 years. Her most current ministry was at Mountain Avenue Baptist Church in Banning, CA where she led the Ladies Ministry. Rebecca was the organizer of the preschool program at Calvary Christian School in Banning,CA where she also taught for 14 years.

Rebecca is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Richard Szydlowski of Banning, CA; daughters, Angela (Josh) Dunaj of Riverside, CA, Laura (Jason) Whitman of Banning, CA, Joanna (Mike) Moyer of Banning, CA, Amanda Szydlowski of Riverside, CA and Tara Szydlowski of Banning, CA;

Eight grandchildren: Braden, Olivia, Whitney, Ashlin, Kinsley, Camden, Goldie and Jack; five sisters, Raydine Hudson, Sherry Stevens, Lynda Eickhoff, Laurie Blue and Michele Herdlevar; two brothers, Mike Backstrom and Kelly Backstrom.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Thornquist; father, Richard Backstrom; step-father, Roger Thornquist.

Her memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Mountain Avenue Baptist Church, Banning, CA with the burial service immediately following at San Gorgonio Memorial Park, Banning, CA.

Dr. Mark Rasmussen from West Coast Baptist College, Lancaster, CA will be officiating.
