Helen Fern Alexander

Helen Alexander went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 2, 2019, in Banning, CA, following a long illness. She was born on her family's farm in St. Joseph Township, Indiana, on July 30,1924, to Charles and Goldie Wenger. She graduated from Wakarusa High School in Wakarusa, IN, in 1942.

After high school Helen worked at several factories including CTS in Elkhart, IN., and the Deutsch Co. in Banning, CA. She later worked for chiropractic doctors in the pass area. She was a 20-year volunteer at the San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning as a "Pink Lady" working for the front desk.

Helen was a long-time member of the Church of the Nazarene, singing in the choir and participating in the Women's Missionary Society. In her later years she attended Sunrise Church with her family.

Helen Married John DeFreese on May 30, 1944, in Elkhart, IN. They relocated to Banning, CA in 1960. Several years after his death she married Joseph Alexander on March 2,1968.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Diana (Don) Foster and Linda Williams. Five grandchildren, Lin (Bruce) McGillvary, Jon (Karen) Foster, Yvette LaDuke, Tiffany LaDuke, and Nicole LaDuke-Coutee, 10 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren with another due in May. She also has three siblings Vada Blosser and Phyllis (Larry) Stauffer both from Indiana. Larry (Terry) Wenger from Arizona.

Helen is preceded in death by both her husbands, her parents and siblings Fay Yoder, Myrtle Kher, Leota Yoder, Doris Nunemaker, Charles, David, Kenny, & Lester Wenger.

Memorial Services will be held at Wiefels & Son in Banning, on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 am. Family will hold a private burial at a later date.
